Top 5 Greatest CBM Performances

The title says it all. This is my list of the top 5 best performances we have seen of a character in a CMB. But first, my honorable mentions.

Honorable Mentions

-General Zod
Actor: Michael Shannon
Film: Man of Steel (2013)

-Bane
Actor: Tom Hardy
Film: The Dark Knight Rises (2012)

-Batman/Bruce Wayne
Actor: Christian Bale
Film: The Dark Knight Trilogy (2005-2012)

Top 5

5) Loki
Actor: Tom Hiddleston
Film: The Thor Franchise (2011- )

I loved Thor (2011) and The Avengers (2012), and though I had some issues with Thor: The Dark World (2013), you can’t deny the presence that Hiddleston brings to this character. He is a great actor, and fully embodies the would-be-king.

4) Iron Man/Tony Stark
Actor: Robert Downey Jr.
Film: The Iron Man Franchise (2008- )

The film that started it all for Marvel. RDJ is this character, and fully embraces his charisma and attitude. He was born to play this role.

3) Superman/Clark Kent
Actor: Christopher Reeve
Film: The Original Superman Franchise (1978-1987)

A classic film. And even if you watch it today, even for your first viewing, Reeve’s performance holds up. This film, not so much. But you believe he is Clark with glasses, and Superman without them.

2) The Joker
Actor: Health Ledger
Film: The Dark Knight (2012)

The main reason The Dark Knight was such a great film, and arguably the greatest CBM ever, is due to Ledgers performance. When he was first cast, most thought it was a mistake, and he would never live up to Jack Nicholson’s performance from the original 1989 Batman. As we now know, this will easily go down as the single greatest performance in a CBM. But I do have a number 1.

1) Wolverine
Actor: Hugh Jackman
Film: The X-Men Franchise (2000- )

The reason I put Jackman no. 1 is due to one simple fact. He not only has done a great job as the character, but he has been in this role for over 15 years; and still has a couple more films left. With his final film, most likely, coming in the 3rd stand alone Wolverine movie (2017 or 2018).

Well there you go, my list. Let me know what you think; Agree? Who is in your top 5? Comment below. Thanks for reading.
