Aborted DC Movie Scripts (Thank goodness they were!)

So we know in the past Warner Bros. has tried, and failed, at several DC property film projects. So below you will find links for a few of these films scripts. Some of you may have heard of the Justice League Movie that was canned only weeks before shooting began. Or the Aborted Superman film that went through a barrage of screen writers, including Kevin Smith, that was going to star Nicholas Cage as Supes, and to be directed by Tim Burton. Or before he co-wrote the 2011 beloved Green Lantern (joke), Michael Goldenberg wrote a Wonder Woman flick. Well I have all of that and more.



Justice League Mortal (2009)
Written by Kieran and Michele Mulroney

This was near production, and to be directed by George Miller. This film was cast and the actors were actually training in Australia when they got the call that WB was cancelling the project. It was slated for a 2009 release.

Asylum

This was in between getting a superman film off the ground (pun intended). And though we are waiting anxiously now, this was the original Batman vs Superman film. Not that it will be anything like our 2016 movie.

Superman Flyby (2003)

This was close to being made as well, and would later become the 2006 Singer Superman Returns, not that this is that. Henry Cavill was actually cast to play Supes, but as we know he would get his break a mere decade later. And thank goodness he did. It also had Robert Downey Jr. as Lex Luthor, before he was Tony Stark. I would have liked to see that. Their suit also got rid of the red undies, and resembled a lot to what we got in MOS.

Superman Lives (1997)

This is the attempt of a Superman film by popular comic book geek Kevin Smith. Now he was not slated to direct, but Nicholas Cage and Tim Burton Signed on to star and direct. However, Burton singed Wesley Strick to pen a new script. Which is our next screenplay on the list.

Superman "Lives" (1998)

Like it says above, this came right after Burton signed on to direct. This film had Nick Cage to star, and was SO close to being made. There are actually pictures of Cage in the Superman costume online. Director Jon Schnepp is making a documentary about the failed movie, and why it never came to life. It is called The Death of Superman Lives: What Happened. It comes out later this year (2014)

Now this is a bit of a let down, because I only have the first 10 pages. We actually don't even get to see (or read about) Diana in this section of the script. However, at least we get a sense of the film they were looking at.
