First of all let me start by saying, though this site mostly covers DC theories and such, I LOVE MARVEL MOVIES. I own every one of the marvel movies on DVD. Even Thor: The Dark World (Which I have many problems with.).
So we know that, as of now, Man of Steel 2 (aka Batman vs. Superman) has the same opening date as Captain America 3 (May 6, 2016). And with all of the praise for Captain America: The Winter Soldier, it’s easy to see how many people are anticipating the third installment. So lets look at the major question surrounding this game of chicken, and the reasons why NONE of it matters in the end.
Who Makes More Money?
Now, given that neither company moves (which they won’t), what will most people see first? This is essentially a preference choice. But given most people have been waiting for a Batman vs. Superman live action movie for decades; its obvious most will see that first; and will make more money. But let me set the record strait… Having both movies open on the same day will have ABSOLUTELY NO EFFECT on how much either movie winds up making! NONE!
Let’s put it this way; everyone who is going to see BvsS and/or Cap 3, are still going to see BvsS and/or Cap 3. The only thing that changes (essentially) is when they see it. Personally I will see both, and so will most people. The only real effect this will have to the parties (WB and Disney) are the opening weekend numbers. Obviously this creates a slight predicament for both films, but only for a brief period. To quote Linkin Park “In the end it doesn’t even matter.”
Now, I am looking forward to both films. And though the studios might suffer a minor flux on their opening weeks, both films will make as much as they will make. And both films will be as good as they will be. It’s really that simple; it’s the same target audience at the end of the day. And let me just say, May 6, 2016 will probably shatter opening weekend records. I’ll end with this. Yes this is seen as DC vs. Marvel, but to us fans this is going to be on of the greatest weekends EVER!
Thanks for reading. Comment below: what will you see first?
