For those who don’t know what kryptonite
is, why are you on this site!? But if you don’t, kryptonite is a substance from
the planet Krypton, that when comes close to, or in contact with Superman, will
make him weak as a human.
Air Supply
For those who say “I can’t wait to see
kryptonite!” I say, we already have! Though it is in aerosol form, and not the
usual rock-type form, we do see it in MOS. And this also confirms (As Snyder
has said before) this version of Supes cannot breath in outer space. So people
who argue that “Why didn’t Kal take Zod to the Moon and fight him there?”
BECAUSE THEY CAN’T BREATH THERE, THAT’S WHY!… However, I do think Snyder and
team will in fact introduce us to a physical form in this next installment, and
will continue in future films.
Classic Rock
So in nearly every single incarnation,
kryptonite has been radioactive rock from Krypton. While that is considered
‘the standard’ for almost every fan out there, I have a theory. MOS did so many
things, right or wrong, that changed Superman in live action film. And I have a
feeling that Snyder will continue to stretch his limits among fans when it
comes to re-inventing the Superman mythos.
I have a feeling that this will not be
the form they choose to go with. Not only has it been done too many times and
ways before, it is hard to believe. Just how exactly do people get their hands
on Kryptonion rock? The only way is if the World Engine ship was carrying rocks
in its cargo. And that seems like a bit of a cheat.
While I have no issue with a rock like
form, I just have a feeling that it is too much of a continuity error. And why
I feel this won’t be the route they take. However, I may have a way to make
this work.
So when Zod and them turned on the World
Engine and began terraforming, it went for a few minutes at least. What if that
was just long enough to turn at least the surface of an area to more of a
Kryptonion like form? It could work, but could be better.
Synthesized
This may be the route to not only
please fans, but make it all appear realistic. What if people
(Government/Lex/Bruce, etc.) somehow create a synthesized Kryptonion like
material? Obviously they would not be able to create a 100% Kryptonion
substance, which leads to it hurting Kal. Similar to how they did it in Superman III, only 100% better.
The problem lies in making the logistics
of it all seem ‘real’; here’s my theory. So, what if Kal comes to some sort of
agreement with the government, in which Kal lets them keep some of the
Kryptonion stuff left behind; for his protection of whatever. They say they
want it so they can learn and create material that could be more structurally
sound. For example, buildings that could withstand hurricanes, or tsunamis, or
anything really.
Then the government invest in Lexcorp
(Lex specifically) to help determine its aspects. In this, Lex would not only
get his hands on the Kryptonion material, but would have all the tools needed
to create a synthesized version.
Metal
This, I feel, is more realistic. So
while it may be hard to explain rocks from Krypton making their way to Earth,
we know that there is plenty of ‘Kryptonion Metal’ left over (Ships, parts of
the World Engine, etc.). So, if they (Lex/Bruce) could manage a way to sculpt weapons,
like daggers or bullets out of this metal, then there you have it. It also
would allow for only a certain amount of ‘kryptonite’ to be around, which I
think is a direction they want to go in.
While a departure from the classic tale
we know, it just seems to make more sense. And, this makes it more of an actual
threat. While a rock may make him weak, a bullet could actually kill him. Just
think of it, Bruce makes a knife out of the material and stabs Kal, then breaks
it whilst stabbing him. Vivid.
Well there you have it. Some ideas of how
WB and team can introduce a more down to earth kryptonite. But let me know; How
would you handle it? Comment below. Thanks for reading.
